Lent starts tomorrow. I'm not religious or anything, but I figured I could give something up for the sake of lent. So, until Easter (whenever that is) I'll be giving up meat. This isn't a huge jump for me, but it can be a little bit tricky when you eat in a dining hall.. sometimes there is just nothing to eat except salad.
What are you giving up for lent? Any advice from vegetarians on staying healthy and balanced?
I gave up soda last year for lent, and have kept it going. Haven't missed it as much as I thought I would. This year instead of giving something up, I am doing more of something --more weight training in my exercise regiment.
ReplyDeleteThis is my 8th year giving up coffee and I miss it each and every year. My advice on going meatless is to make sure you incorporate protein into your diet every day: eggs, beans, fish, tofu, etc. Even if you are having a salad, add some beans or eggs. Also, buy yourself a container of vanilla whey protein powder. Make yourself a shake for breakfast containing: 8 oz soy milk (or whatever milk you drink), 1 c berries, 1 banana, 1 scoop protein powder, and a pinch of cinnamon.
